Utah State Employment – Policy Analyst

Job Description:

Do you have experience working on health related policies? The Utah Department of Health and Human Services seeks you to join the Tobacco Prevention and Control Program (TPCP) as the Policy Specialist. As a member of the TPCP team, you will work with the Utah Tobacco Free Alliance, local health districts, and strategic partners to lead policy, systems, and environmental change initiatives. You will function under limited supervision and have considerable discretion on related projects and assignments.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist on policy related work groups.
• Act as a resource to expand, develop and coordinate public health programs at the state level.
• Create and maintain tobacco program policy agenda
• Develop, plan, implement and evaluate efforts affecting specific health policy changes related to tobacco.
• Train partners in policy best practices.
• Draft administrative rules.
• Contact, meet, and collaborate with specific stakeholders to impact changes related to public health policy.
• Provide education on tobacco issues to policy makers.
• Conduct public policy analysis.

Job Requirements:

• Has experience with public health.
• Is detail oriented
• Has strong communication and analytical skills.
• Has experience with public policy, legislation, or administrative rules.
• Has a degree in Public Policy, Public Health, Political Science, Legal or other similar field.
