Job Description:

The Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), Office of Constituent Services (OCS), seeks a Constituent Services Coordinator. Interested candidates statewide are encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve/transcribe OCS voicemail messages as scheduled, returning calls and assisting callers with information and/or referrals.
  • Receive, research, and respond to contacts received by telephone, email, fax, and mail; providing accurate and timely responses to concerns or questions.
  • Perform data entry and maintain routine tracking spreadsheets and databases in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepare summary reports and enter them into the Customer Information Management, Outcomes, and Reporting system (CIMOR); update existing reports as additional information is obtained.
  • Distribute CIMOR event reports to appropriate division personnel in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all issues handled by the OCS.
  • Provide general information and referrals to applicable state agencies, organizations, advocacy groups, and other appropriate entities for inquiries not pertaining to DMH programs/services.
  • Interpret and explain state statutes (RSMo), code of state regulations (CSRs), department operating regulations (DORs), and program guidelines applicable to consumer rights and abuse/neglect/misuse of funds (ANM) of DMH consumers.
  • Monitor the DHSS/DSS Hotline email Inbox and the DMH Constituent Services email Inbox, following established procedures for processing these contacts.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to become familiar with and convey resources available to constituents, including DMH providers, governmental programs, mental health and disability rights organizations.
  • Ability to handle difficult interactions with consumers and/or their guardians, advocates, family members, and others in a positive, calm and professional manner.
  • Ability to understand and communicate concepts of self-advocacy, recovery, and self-determination.
  • Applicants must have the patience to listen to long explanations, and the ability to redirect and lead the conversation to gather information necessary to complete the contact.
  • Applicants must be well-organized, and able to multi-task and successfully manage work priorities.
  • Ability to learn, work within, and convey state and federal laws, department operating regulations, and code of state regulations; as they relate to DMH constituent rights and reports of suspected abuse/neglect.
  • Applicants must be skilled in the use of MS Office Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and possess professional writing and communication skills.
