Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for a Human Rights and Opportunities (HRO) Trainee . In this role, we will have you learn on the job and at the end of a two-year training program, you will have a target class of HRO Representative . This role is based in the Capitol Region, located in Hartford CT. Additionally, this is a full- time, first shift, 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm role.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, implement and monitor specific remedies, programs and projects designed to promote equal opportunity, affirmative action and intergroup relations
  • Perform enforcement and investigative work of gradually increasing responsibilities
  • Investigate discriminatory practices complaints
  • Additional information here
  • Develop cooperative law enforcement and compliance liaison activities with community organizations, business, and federal, state, and local government agencies
  • Perform related duties as required
  • Requires ability to manage a heavy case load
  • Review state agency affirmative action plans and contractor set aside plans

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience in customer service interacting with people from various backgrounds
  • Experience in preparing interrogatories relating to discrimination cases
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products
  • Experience conducting fact finding investigations including multiple parties
  • Experience with mediation, negotiation, and arbitration processes and techniques
  • Experience completing tasks via a computer
  • Experience working with and protecting confidential information
  • Experience performing formal investigations and preparing written reports of findings
  • Experience working, managing, and completing multiple tasks simultaneously within strict deadlines
