Job Description:

The ODA Unit Member is responsible for performing functions identified within the authority, functions, and limitations defined in the ODA unit member list, to ensure compliance with applicable FAA Regulations and current SWA company policy and procedures The performance of authorized functions will be conducted for Southwest Airlines aircraft that are maintained at SWA, AEMP and vendor locations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Verifies and documents completion and status of required inspections
  • Interfaces with Engineering, Production, Operation, Records, and Quality on ODA project support requirements, as applicable
  • Coordinates with applicable company representatives on conformity inspection issues
  • Prepares or reviews required reports for submittal to SWA and FAA
  • Monitors the incorporation of corrective action for all deficiencies identified by ODA Unit activities
  • Performs airworthiness records reviews and inspections, and other FAA authorized functions to ensure compliance with applicable FAA Regulations and current SWA company policy and procedures
  • Assist Certificate Management Offices (CMO) or Flight Standards District Offices (FSDO) FAA inspectors during their on-site visits and inspections
  • Provides technical guidance and develops reference materials to enhance competency across the team
  • Assist in the development and continuous improvement of processes and procedures necessary for the effective administration of the SWA ODA Unit

Job Requirements:

  • Broad understanding of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations
  • Cognizant of regulatory requirements and issues related to civil aircraft approvals and general certification process
  • Knowledge of pertinent regulations, directives, and related guidance material related to designee program
  • Expert knowledge of the working systems of an aircraft
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple activities concurrently
  • Ability to interpret, comprehend, and effectively communicate intent of Federal Regulations and aircraft technical documents
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Significant experience working directly with the FAA
  • Basic understanding of Aircraft Structures and Repairs
