You’ll be responsible for translating and executing the category strategy for a given product range to delivery profitable growth. Accountable for the owning and supporting the delivery of agreed target KPIs (including sales, margin, stock, availability, digital metrics and customer satisfaction) in line with the category strategy. Accountable for buying own brand and branded ranges, trading a customer focused proposition through their teams, establishing effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior level to ensure delivery of strategy. As a Buyer you’ll: Support the Senior Buyer and Buying Manager on the category strategy. Work with product development and Global sourcing, inputting into cost effective capable sourcing routes to maximise profit. Manage and support the Assistant Buyers and Buying Admin Assistants. Create and implement a customer driven strategic vision for their ranges in line with the category strategy with clearly defined and measurable initiatives. Use knowledge of markets and suppliers you’ll inform the category budget and create/implement trading plans to achieve category strategy. Managing pricing across category to achieve a competitive position without compromising profitability Work with merchandising to develop annual budget phasing and developing reforecast throughout the year. Work strategically with brands to secure exclusive, winning, and compelling promotions and events; allowing us to win customers Conduct regular store visits and build relationships with the retail teams. Our Buying team would love to see: Commercial awareness and previous Buying experience, preferably within a non-food retail environment A passion for product, balanced with understanding the need for commercial acumen Proven track record of delivering results as an individual and within a team An understanding of financial leavers to drive product performance. Strong analytical and numerical skills Good written and verbal communication skills Effective communicator, presenter, and team player with an ability to bring others with them to deliver the strategy.
