In a nutshell

You’ll drive the long-term profitability of our credit card products. You’ll be managing the new customer acquisition strategy, ensuring alignment with our strategic, commercial and customer objectives within the dynamic competitive market context. You’ll seek to optimise the utilisation of the board-approved risk appetite and drive a balanced risk and reward management within the portfolio. Whilst you’ll specialise in Credit Cards, you’ll need to cover other Banking products as required, so maintaining a broad understanding across the range is expected.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing optimised pricing strategies for new customers by assessing internal and external market / economic factors and collaborating closely within the broader product teams, Finance, Credit Risk, Operations and Marketing teams.
  • Leading analyses of both performance and behavioural data to assess portfolio profitability and identify actions to improve portfolio performance. You’ll work closely with the Finance team to develop robust portfolio and product/proposition P&L models.
  • Coordinating pricing assumptions within the planning/budgeting cycle and accurate forecasting of KPIs for the Credit Cards P&L.
  • Optimising the Credit Card portfolio yield through analysis of potential pricing changes within the existing customer portfolio and cost-of-funds management.
  • Contributing to the development of Credit Cards strategy.
  • Regular analyses of the market to manage product pricing and to inform/deliver specific business cases/initiatives to ensure continued product competitiveness.
  • Working closely with Credit Risk and the Credit product teams to drive expansion of the acquisition universe and identify targeted actions to deliver higher utilisation of board-agreed risk appetite, through both acquisitions and portfolio management actions.
  • Being a key contributor to the delivery of the P&L and delivery of Sales, Retention, Income, Cost & Contribution lines. You’ll focus on delivering the income targets set out in the business plan.
  • Managing key vendors within the area, including the current benchmarking service provider.

What you need to know and show

  • Extensive experience in an analytical role within Financial Services, with at least some experience in a Credit Card function.
  • Highly commercial approach with a strong customer instinct.
  • Experience with P&L management, financial analysis, and data manipulation techniques, using SAS or SQL.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. You’ll have the ability to communicate with impact and articulate complex data to a wide array of audiences.
  • Strong influencing and relationship-building skills, across all levels.
  • A passion for delivering the best product/service to the customer
  • Team management experience is desirable, but not essential.
