Job description

Permanent, 37 hours per week.

We are currently looking to recruit a Grounds Maintenance Machinery Technician, to join our maintenance operation based in Hellaby, Rotherham. The Council currently operates plant equipment consisting of tractors, grounds maintenance mowers, quads, and handheld tools, which are maintained at our fully equipped facility.

You will be part of a strong and supportive team and will have the opportunity to develop your skills further as new technology is introduced. We are looking for a hardworking and conscientious person to work in a busy environment, providing an essential and valuable service to our customers, and in turn the communities of Rotherham.

The post holder will carry out fault diagnosis and maintenance/repair of complex equipment, including hydraulic and electrical systems. Some welding, fabrication and body repairs may also be required.

The post holder from time to time, will attend other sites in the Borough, to undertake inspections, maintenance and fix broken down or accident damaged equipment. The role also requires the preparation and decommissioning of fleet additions and disposals.

It will also be a requirement, to provide additional capacity for the fleet workshop as and when required, which may involve taking vehicles to and from MOT or other repair agents.

From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2024 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).
