As Systems Architect, you will be the subject matter expert on complex engineering planning along with being the critical link across the operational teams. You will lead and support the teams in delivering the production management capability. As Systems Architect the foundations of these functions will be built upon good governance, process design and compliance, and system configuration which in turn means clean inputs into the system to provide ever-improving outputs.

You’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Design and lead the rigorous framework that needs to be put in place around tactical planning optimisation and inputs, including, but not limited to, skills governance, supply forecasting, demand forecasting, and systems configuration
  • Become part of a matrix team rolling out the production planning capability into the Desk teams
  • Provide shared service support pan FND and other complex areas of the business
  • Lead a team of planning and workflow systems experts who will provide the operational foundations for Production Management
  • Lay out the requirements, capabilities, and expectations of the team to achieve business outcomes and to drive engagement
  • Lead the team to deliver the configuration, governance, and insights to drive continuous in-life improvements
  • Support optimisation of geographies (patches and Areas) for ND re-orgs
  • Assume responsibility for managing the parameter settings in our workflow and allocation systems, ensuring that these are updated in a timely manner following an agreed change process as agreed with key stakeholders, including UAT for new systems releases
  • Be responsible for the use of analytical insights and reporting to drive sustained improvements to the planning and scheduling of work across FND
  • Work with the Transformation and Change teams to lay out expectations of new processes and behaviours.
  • Communicate regularly with all customers and suppliers at any level, to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Become the recognised expert in tactical planning and dynamics and provide advice/coaching to managers at all levels
  • Take ownership of system developments and issues and understand in detail the expected impact on both the system and any service or efficiency opportunities
  • Support all relevant production management process governance and adherence nationally for FND, e.g. Skills
  • Be accountable for developing forecasting methodologies for field work into FND in order to underwrite tactical planning delivery
  • Create ad-hoc reports and insights as agreed with the line manager and/or senior Openreach management
  • Maintain integrity and business priorities across a diverse and changing customer base
  • Be an influencer in decision-making across the production management environment, helping to shape solution options, deliver impact analysis, recommendations, and expected output

You’ll need to have the following skills and experience:

  • Proven track record in leading a team of people.
  • Advanced use of analytical tools and data processing including Excel
  • High attention to detail and ensuring system compliance
  • Production management Systems knowledge and tactical planning systems
  • Proven track record of driving change and continuous improvements and communicating this across operational teams
  • Ability to manage high levels of ambiguity when dealing with system configuration and insights
  • Ability to think ahead, predict outcomes and develop scenarios that proactively mitigate business impacts
  • Knowledge of different business models and how they impact the delivery of cost, customer experience, and people engagement
  • Able to present to an audience with confidence and ensure the goals are achieved in sessions
