Job Purpose

We are looking for a full-time General Stores Operative to join our busy Stores Operation at our site in Wethersfiled, Essex. The successful candidate will fulfil a broad range of physical tasks to facilitate day-to-day Stores Operations. The range of activities includes re-location of furniture, stores and equipment between buildings on the site.

Emptying of offices/rooms and other associated buildings. Stores Operative activities include support to the wider stores, mail and reprographics team involving general labour/janitorial tasks.

The successful candidate will have the professional capability to multi-task when and where needed, as required by the business. Training will be given where required.


Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure timely and safe service delivery of heavy and light porterage tasks as directed.
  • Undertake general labour duties (such as construction of temporary structures, cleaning of signage, window frames and other areas/assets).
  • Act as a driver and/or escort to deliver and collect stores/freight as directed.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Escort visitors/contractors when required.
  • Collection and disposal of waste.
  • Deliver a range of stores related tasking, including, handling, processing, stocktaking and administration of the supply chain account for all stores ranges as required.
  • Undertake other tasks as determined by the itie Line Manager including emerging requirements as the business need evolves. This could include interoperable support and/or cover for other Interserve personnel such as Mail and reprographics support.
  • Actively promote a safe working culture and adhere to the Health and Safety procedures, processes and the law.

  • Capability to multi-task when and where needed, as required by the business
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Flexible approach to accommodate changing requirements and priorities
  • Good customer facing skills and the ability to develop close working relationships
  • Basic IT literacy
  • A physically fit person with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Able to use own initiative, highly responsive to company and customer requirements. Pro-active and consistent with the ability to adapt quickly to the different needs of the business and:
  • MOD security clearance will be required (Proof of Right to Work in UK essential).
  • Requirement to work 37½ hours per week full-time (Mon to Fri).
  • Required to wear approved company work wear.
  • Full/Cat B driving licence (Essential)
