Cluster Manager – Transport for London

Annual Salary: £39K

Company Pension

Hours per week: 45hrs per week 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday (on call every third week)

Holidays: 25 days per annum

Mobile phone / Laptop

Travel expenses (via TfL tube) for site-to-site travel within Greater London

Access to a work an electric work car while on duty (once safety courses passed)

Role Overview:

The overall purpose of the role is to lead, motivate and develop the security team to provide a best-in-class service to the client’s premises and its occupiers. To play an essential and central role in the development and agreement of the contract strategy, ensuring agreed strategy is met and exceeded. The Cluster Manager will provide effective support to the client in all aspects of physical security and incident management, including assisting with BTP / Police & public sector audits, health and safety, and emergency planning. The Cluster Manager will be the primary day to day point of contact and assurance for all aspects of their portfolio and require a comprehensive understanding of other business areas which present security risks.

Candidate Profile:

  • Must have at least 2 full years previous experience in managing prestigious and highly demanding corporate /commercial contract or in an acting role that can be proven
  • Full UK driving licence,
  • Excellent client facing experience/skills
  • IOSH Managing Safely Certificate or higher
  • First Aid Cert
  • A valid SIA CCTV licence
  • Proven experience of management skills and ability to lead large teams and motivate a team
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Clear understanding of implementation of security management best practice
  • Understanding and proven experience leading on Investigations, Disciplinaries, Appeals and Grievances
  • Time gate/ WPP/Merlin system etc or similar system experience
  • Metropolitan Police Clearance (Existing or achievable within 6 months)
  • Demonstrable experience of practical incident management.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing health and safety in varied environments
  • Demonstrable experience of emergency planning i.e. fire evacuation procedures
  • Practical understanding of building management, i.e. Lockdown systems, fire detection, suppression systems, intruder alarms, access control systems etc
  • Practical understanding of Security hardware and systems, i.e. CCTV, Intruder alarms, shutters, barriers, turnstiles.

Key Responsibilities:

Management:

  • To have total responsibility and ownership for the management of the security and logistics operation.
  • have a significant role in the security process and should have the ability to proactively identify areas that require improvement and innovation.
  • Ensure that the security operation complies with all relevant statutory requirements.
  • Set clear directives for direct reports through the employee management process and monitor progress.
  • Maintain a progressive development strategy for all employees.
  • Present statistical data and KPI performance to the client and Mitie Management at monthly meetings (or as agreed).
  • Lead on investigating security incidents across the portfolio maintaining effective communication/coordination with internal and external stakeholders and client, while indicating recommendations and best practice
  • Manage and take forward disciplinaries, appeals and grievances

Development:

  • Work closely with the client to understand specific liaison development requirements with the Police agencies and the local business community.
  • To be forward thinking and be a part of idea generation and innovations for the client. (Strategy)
  • To devise and implement new security procedures where appropriate, ensuring correct approval protocols are applied.
  • To develop the team and ensure training requirements are identified and training programmes implemented.
  • Develop the security knowledge and ethos of the client within your team and establish auditable security excellence.
