Job Description:

The Occupational Hygiene Specialist reports directly to the OH Team Lead. This position is responsible for providing overall health and safety support to the Pascagoula Refinery by conducting IH monitoring, surveys, and statistical data interpretation under the direction of a CIH.Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Industrial Hygiene Specialist  through June 29th at 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring, surveys, and statistical data interpretation. Present findings to field personnel and management.
  • Incumbent should be highly knowledgeable with technical aspects of industrial hygiene (acute and chronic chemical health effects, statistical use of data, methods of sample collection, data integrity, indoor air quality, radiation program management etc.).
  • Serve as self-motivated and pro-active technical resource for industrial hygiene issues (Chevron Operational Excellence process, OSHA compliance, other health issues, etc.) with strong writing & documentation skills.
  • Able to establish priorities and balance long term work with daily needs (agency inspections, etc.) while keeping poise and professional demeanor.
  • Develop and conduct training classes on IH-related topics. Evaluate and improve existing training materials.
  • Provide Industrial Hygiene support to the Pascagoula Refinery, with supervision/assistance from a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Support shutdown activities including, but not limited to, developing and implementing turnaround specific IH monitoring plans, and supporting the development and implementation of turnaround safety plans.
  • Conduct internal or community monitoring in the event of a release and support emergency response plan implementation. (Occasional on-call duty for 24/7 coverage)
  • Interpret Laws/Regulations or Policies/Best Practices, determine applicability & develop compliance guidelines and provide practical solutions for field implementation.
  • Audit refinery performance against requirements and recommend practical corrective actions.
  • Able to make decisions independently.
  • Maintain IH equipment inventory including evaluating current equipment and recommending improvements as necessary.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health Science, Toxicology, or related field
  • Excellent written/verbal communications and facilitation skillset and experience writing IH monitoring results reports and other Industrial hygiene-related client communications.
  • Must be able to manage small to moderately complex projects.
  • Ability to work as a team member on HES issues with peers, management, and line field personnel- building good and productive relationships.
