Product Technologist - Dairy - 220007P5) The role of a Technologist is to manage the delivery of all aspects of the Sainsbury’s Brand product and technical plans for their product area with emphasis on safe, legal, appropriate quality legality and supplier performance. Technologists work with the suppliers, our Sainsbury’s brand support team, product developers, trading, supply chain and retail teams to deliver great quality products that are consistently produced to the correct standard and meet our agreed specifications, standards and policies. Technologists drive the quality and technical agenda for their product area, which includes responsibility for delivering through our suppliers our Net Zero commitments and keeping the customer at the heart of all decisions. As a Product Technologist - Dairy you’ll: Manage and improve technical performance of product area with clear direction provided by Head of Technical. Be accountable for safety, legality and quality of Sainsbury’s brand products ensuring brand reputation and due diligence is maintained. Be a custodian of quality and Sainsbury's Brand reputation by adopting a zero tolerance approach to all failings of safety, legality quality and brand reputation. Manage projects to improve product quality with direction. Be able to implement quality standards competently and challenge the unacceptable. Create complaint reduction action plans with all suppliers with Product Technical Manager support. Delivers on complaints reduction plans. Set targets for suppliers KPI's and reviews regularly. Be accountable for maintaining accurate product information for all Sainsbury’s brand products ensuring the quality and safety standards are clearly defined and adhered to. Complete detailed investigations on product issues to identify the root cause of the issue and implement clear action plans. Manage and deliver KPI’s in product area. Delivers technical R&D projects with partner suppliers on time to a high standard with support from Head of Technical. Drives improvements in our customer offer through implementing the gated development process. Deliver technical aspects of category Net Zero plan for product area. Sets and communicates clear targets for all suppliers as appropriate Manage projects to improve product quality and or/implement new technologies. Implement supply base strategy in product area and recommends suppliers for product development. Proactively manage and engages with the supply base to drive the technical agenda. Implement supplier joint business plans and technical plans that deliver a step change in product quality and all aspects of the Sainsbury’s brand strategy. Set supplier KPI’s and monitors supplier compliance through effective detailed site visits/audits based on a risk assessment and regular review meetings Our Technical team would love to see: Degree or equivalent in relevant scientific discipline Understanding of technical and manufacturing experience including HACCP, BRC, GMP and appropriate supplier management frameworks Computer literate Commercial awareness Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a technical role either in the supply base or at a retailer The role will require travel within the UK and overseas (depending on product area and supply base location) Good judgement, drive and influence and a clear targeted personal development plan to enhance these areas Delivery of KPI’s and Sainsbury’s brand strategy targets as defined within personal development review targets.
